Country to Country!

Our next stop on our travel week was Venice, Italy. Venice is known for being the “City of Bridges” and stretches along the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers. It is also known as a place for couples, shopping, artists and poets. Venice is a beautiful city of color that is secluded among many islands. It is often remembered as the city of gondolas, because most of the transportation is by little canoes.

Venice was an experience to say the least, the transportation and maze like streets was an adventure for all of us. The city is very old and traditional which came with some obstacles we had to overcome. Our Air bnb was a little apartment with antiques around every corner, squeaky doors and old appliances. We choose to cook dinner one night thinking it would be faster and cheaper, it ended going the opposite direction. The technology and electrical systems aren’t quite as up to date as we are use to. When using just the oven the breaker in the apartment went out 4 times while cooking, it took us two and half hours just to cook veggies. It was a moment that made us stop and appreciate the small things we take for granite at home. And that is just the beginning of our adventures in Venice! We enjoyed getting lost, finding cute spots to capture memories, shopping and experiencing a gondola ride.

After two short days in Venice, it was time to pack up and head to Nice, France! Getting from Venice to Nice was a journey we traveled by boat, bus, plane and taxi by the end of the day. Arriving to Nice was a beautiful sight, the flight was filled with mountains, the big blue ocean and landing on the runway seaside. We had one full day in Nice to experience all that it has to offer! But it was on our bucket list to visit Monte Carlo, Monaco, so that is where we started our morning. We took an Uber seaside that dropped us off at the famous casino, from there we walked to the yacht club and by all the high class shops. Around noon we headed to the train station to finish our day in Nice. Our afternoon consisted of eating an early dinner on the beach and walking through the carnival that was taking place. Nice was a great way to end our travel week, because it is a stunning tourist like city but also is very relaxing and peaceful. Our Air bnb was a two minute walk from the beach so we spent a lot of our time seaside enjoying God’s beautiful creation. Nice reminded me of a lot of California, everyone is very active, healthy and friendly! Saying goodbye to France was hard, but definitely a place I intend on revisiting. That Sunday morning we packed our bags, took one last walk on the beach and headed to the airport. It was time to return to Vic, Spain!
