Just Rome (ing) Around

Hi I am back to blogging and just arrived to Venice… is this a dream? We are thriving this week, because it is our week of travel. Our first stop, Rome! We arrived to Leonardo da Vinci Airport last Saturday evening, checked into our Air bnb, dropped our bags and started exploring the stunning city. Rome is so unique; this history, architecture, culture, hole in the wall restaurants and rolling hills makes you fall in love within the first couple of seconds of arriving. The last three days were filled with tours, walking, food (lots of pasta and bread) and taking in all the incredible history that Rome offers. My two favorite tourist stops was the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain! (I know huge shocker there)

Colosseum: We did a group tour to hear the history of the Colosseum and have access to private areas inside. As you know the Colosseum’s purpose was to entertain the people by watching battles and fighting whether is was man to man or man to animal. After hearing many tough and horrific stories, our tour guide ended our day with a happy one. The story is of an African American male who was placed in the Colosseum to battle against a tiger. This man went in ready to fight and the tiger ran straight at him and started licking his feet. The Romans were astonished that this tiger did not kill the man, so they put a different man into the arena to battle the tiger and the tiger killed that man. Confused, the Emperor put the first man and the tiger back into the arena. Yet again the tiger ran right up to him and started licking him. The people did not understand, but stories say apparently this man had helped a tiger get a thorn out of his paw in Africa and the tiger placed in the arena was the SAME one…a life for a life!

Trevi Fountain: Walking up to the Trevi Fountain was a dream, there was so much anticipation to what it was going to be like. The girls and I were taken away by the beauty of the fountain. There were so many people crowed around taking in the architecture and serene sound of the water. Walking down the steps I pulled out a penny to make a wish and just like that a once in a life time experience was checked of my bucket list.

The past four days of traveling has been so amazing and full of wonderful memories. I can not wait to see what we will experience here in Venice!!
